One of four types of leukemia, chronic myelogenous leukemia (also known as chronic myeloid leukemia) or CML is a slowly progressing cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It is characterized by an overproduction of white blood cells which do not mature, ultimately cannot carry out their intended function and crowd out the healthy cells. In Canada there are only approximately 450 new cases a year. Novartis wanted to create a community to give support to this small group of people, that while on drug can survive this form of cancer, but with side effects. We created this site to show how, support and a positive outlook for CML suffers.
